Kauai, also called the Garden Island is a lush and beautiful island filled with diverse landscapes, beautiful skies and turquoise waters. This collection of images was taken during the rainy season and shows the contrast between the different locations of the island.


Skeleton Beach: This beautiful beach is located on the south side of Kauai and is home to some of the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seals.


Waimea Canyon: Waimea Canyon also know as the Little Grand Canyon is located on the west side of the island.


Waimea Canyon Colors:
This canyon boasts bright red rock formations along with
lush green valleys below. The low afternoon storm clouds made for a dramatic sunset.


Waimea Valley: The valley floor is covered with trees and bushes.


Waimea Foliage: Green cliffs surround the outer edges of Waimea Canyon.


Hanalei Bay Sunset: This rainy afternoon sunset lasted only for a few seconds before the clouds covered the sun.


Off Shore Rainbow: This rainbow began just after a morning rainstorm.


Waimea Falls: This scenic waterfall is the location
of the opening scene from the TV show Fantasy Island.


Na Pali Vegitation: Palm fronds and banyan trees are found all along this scenic trail.


Banyan Roots: Banyan trees are everywhere in Kauai including this roadside rock wall.


Na Pali Coast Trail: The famous Kalalau trail is both rugged
and beautiful offering great views and a challenging hike.


Off Shore View:
This is one of the
first views of the ocean when hiking this trail.


Looking West: This view of the coast is facing west.


What Looks Like an Easy Trail...: This trail can be treacherous with steep dropoffs, slick rocks and slippery mud.


Clean Feet: We tried to clean our
feet as best we could for this photo.


Read the Signs: Not everyone heeds to the warnings.


Creek Crossing:
This creek is the last
obstacle before reaching Hanakapi'ai beach.


Na Pali Cliffs: These lush green
cliffs can be seen all along the coast trail.


Kilauea Lighthouse:
This picturesque lighthouse is also a great spot for whale watching.


Hanalei Bay Beach:
This beach faces west towards the Na Pali coast.


Beach Palm Trees:

Hidden Beach:
This quiet and secluded beach
offers Great views, whale watching and snorkeling.


Hidden Beach Views:
The Na Pali cliffs can be easily seen from Hidden Beach.


Hidden Beach Sunset:
Not only is this a secluded beach, but the sunsets are great too.
